Half the monthly repayment, paid fortnightly
- Fortnightly repayment—
- Time to pay off—
- Interest saved versus monthly repayments—
Some lenders set fortnightly repayments at half the monthly amount. With 26 fortnights a year, that is like making 13 monthly repayments instead of 12, so the loan is paid off sooner. Interest is assumed to be charged per fortnight.
Formula: standard fully amortising repayment, interest charged each repayment period. Lenders calculate interest daily and charge it monthly, so their figure can differ by a few dollars. Not a lender quote. General information only. Rate source: RBA Statistical Table F6, Housing Lending Rates (series FLRHOOVA), August 2026.
