How we work
The rate board is a dated snapshot, not a live feed from an undocumented API.
Federal funds target
Taken from the FOMC’s post-meeting statement. Current range 3.75%–4%, September 16, 2026. Source: FOMC statement, September 16, 2026.
Interest on reserves and window rate
Taken from the implementation note issued the same day. Source: Fed implementation note, September 16, 2026.
Mortgage averages
Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey, published Thursdays. 30-year 6.95% and 15-year 6.26% as of September 17, 2026. Source: Freddie Mac PMMS, week of September 17, 2026. That survey is a national average for strong-credit, 20% down, conforming purchase applications. It is not your quote.
Calculators
Mortgage payment uses the standard fully amortizing formula. Card payoff compounds monthly at APR/12 until the balance clears, or reports that the payment cannot cover interest. Refinance break-even is closing costs divided by the monthly payment cut. Extra-versus-savings compares remaining-term mortgage interest with a simple pretax savings illustration. None of them include taxes, insurance, or points unless you type those costs in.
Updates
Board figures are updated when the Fed or Freddie Mac publishes. File date on this snapshot: September 20, 2026. We would rather be a day late with a citation than first with a rumor.
